Designing Cities for Radical Uncertainty: A Shared Language for Scaling

Thu, 10 Sep 2026 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM SGT Lab 1
About this session

R-Cities has spent years working with city governments and communities to design and expand place-based resilience solutions, from community action planning in Melaka to OASIS Schoolyards in Quezon City and Semarang, to the Urban Farming Initiative in Chennai. These projects prove that community-led resilience works. The remaining question is how to make their full value visible and scale it.

Cities, communities, funders, and corporate partners often see value in the same intervention but measure it differently, and this gap keeps real impact from being recognised and financed. This session draws on real projects from the urban solutions map to explore what different actors count as impact, where their definitions align, and what it will take to build partnerships and a shared language of value capable of scaling proven solutions further.
