Biography

Dr. Rey-Sheng Her is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Tzu Chi Foundation and Convener of the Tzu Chi Academic Committee. He also serves as an Associate Scholar at Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences CAMLab, Co-Director of the Zhejiang University Center for Goodness Studies in Civilizations, and Trustee of the Association for Well-being Economy (AWE).

With a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Peking University, Dr. Her explores how altruism, goodness, and humanistic values can shape organizations, economies, and society. His research focuses on contemporary Humanistic Buddhism, philanthropy, and new approaches to governance.

He is the initiator of the Economy of Goodness (EOG), an initiative exploring how goodness and altruism can serve as guiding principles for organizational governance and economic life. He also founded the Tzu Chi Forum and the Global Symposium for Common Goodness, bringing together scholars and practitioners to explore how values can be translated into collective action.

At the core of Dr. Her’s work is the vision of a Civilization of Goodness — exploring how altruism, compassion, and the common good can transform the way we build economies, organizations, and technologies. Through his work on the Economy of Goodness, Governance Based on Goodness, and Technology for Goodness, he seeks to connect these values with practical approaches to shared prosperity, collaborative leadership, and technology that serves humanity.
