Trust is often treated as a soft organisational value, yet it determines how effectively people collaborate, how honestly they express disagreement and whether an organisation can survive crisis or leadership transition. 和而不同—harmony in diversity— does not call for uniformity. It describes the ability to maintain connection and coherence through shared principles while preserving difference. This session examines social trust as management infrastructure: how trust is built between teams, embedded in governance and organisational culture, repaired when damaged, and transmitted to new members and future generations of leaders. Voices from business, education, philanthropy, media and sustainable development will explore how high-trust organisations can strengthen cohesion without suppressing disagreement, creativity or diverse perspectives. The discussion will also connect a leader’s inner state with organisational culture, asking how the ways leaders respond to pressure, interest and responsibility ultimately shape decision-making, relationships and the organisation’s capacity for renewal.
