The Chinese traditions of cultivating virtue across generations and contributing to the wider world offer a powerful cultural foundation for rethinking wealth, family legacy and social responsibility. As private wealth enters a new era of intergenerational transition, new tools—including charitable trusts, impact investing, family offices and cross-border philanthropy—are expanding the possibilities of giving. The deeper question, however, is not simply how wealth can be passed on, but how it can create lasting value for individuals, families and society.
Guided by 善业长青—sustaining good across generations, this salon brings together Chinese families, philanthropic institutions, family offices and wealth-management professionals. The discussion will examine the contemporary landscape of Chinese family philanthropy, its distinctive cultural foundations, and emerging opportunities created by greater exchange between Chinese and Western philanthropic traditions. It will also seek to advance collaborative case research, resource sharing and the development of a modern philanthropic network for Chinese families across Asia.
