Biography

A pharmacist by training with over 30 years of experience, Weng Mooi currently leads in the development of healthy precinct framework (HPF) and digital solutions to build up healthy living and mental well-being in the community. She also co-chairs and drives Digital Mental Health Strategy with National Mental Health Office/MOH.

Development of HPF involves understanding needs of the communities and partnering stakeholders including government agencies, business and community leaders and volunteers to co-create tools and initiatives such as movement for health (M4H) and environmental sensing community improvement walk. M4H is an innovative community empowerment programme which leverages on ground up social networks in the neighbourhood, building up their capabilities to promote behavioural change amongst their members and to take charge of their health. Environmental sensing community improvement walk involves a structured community engagement process, walking around the neighbourhood with the residents to identify opportunity for improvement using an age-friendly neighbourhood environmental audit tool. Taken together, the strategies empower the residents by making healthier living an easier choice, contributing towards a heathier Singapore.

Before her current role, she was the Chief of Caregiving and Community Mental Health in a government agency. For over 20 years, she served in a variety of leadership roles from Director of Allied Health to Chief Operating Officer in Singapore's leading mental health institution and group Chief Operating Officer in a private organisation. Weng Mooi is passionate and determined to push for the transformation of care (including mental health/dementia care) to be person centric, holistic, and empowering while integrating care with the natural environment.
