Biography

Rituj Sahu is a climate and food-systems practitioner with over a decade of experience across public policy, philanthropy, finance, and corporate engagement. He leads the India protein-transition programme at Asia Research & Engagement, working with companies, investors, banks, and policymakers to influence the decisions and incentives shaping how food is produced, financed, and sourced. His work examines how food systems can address interconnected challenges including climate resilience, land use, public health, responsible supply chains, and rural livelihoods. Previously, at the Rockefeller Foundation, Rituj managed initiatives on regenerative agriculture, nutrition, climate resilience, and livelihoods across Asia. His earlier work included advising state governments on agricultural reform and supporting impact, ESG, and investment strategies. Rituj’s training spans economics, anthropology, and finance, complemented by interdisciplinary and cross-cultural fellowships in India and Germany. He is particularly interested in how finance, policy, and institutional change can enable fairer and more resilient rural and food-system transitions.
