Biography

Risto Väyrynen is the founder of The Impact Office, where he brings together families to leverage their “unfair advantage” for scalable, meaningful impact. As chairman and fourth-generation member of his family’s Finnish bakery business, Risto combines his background in family enterprise with experience as a former Managing Partner at a Geneva-based investment firm. For over a decade, he’s been using what he’s learned from both worlds to support impact investing and back projects that help keep us within planetary boundaries. Risto holds an MBA in Family Business from EDHEC Business School.

He previously led the Family Business Community at the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Council of Wisdom at the Family Business Network, helping mobilise family enterprises for positive change. Risto is known for a practical, results-driven approach to impact investing, and regularly advises and speaks on finance for good.

He also founded the Polaris Cycling Team, which challenges family members to tackle Tour de France stages for charity, and is a snooker champion in both Switzerland and Finland.
