Inga Thordar is the Chief Catalyst Officer at Kanaloa, a philanthropic venture 100% dedicated to ocean protection, with a strategic focus on critical ecosystems, Marine Protected Areas, and the welfare and legal recognition of sentient marine animals. Before dedicating her work to ocean health, Inga built a distinguished international career in journalism. She was the Executive Editor of CNN Digital Worldwide, overseeing all international news, sport, and programming teams across London, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Lagos, and New York. In that role, she managed large, multi-continental teams and significant editorial budgets, while driving strategic growth and digital innovation.
She was a vocal champion for stronger climate coverage, appointing CNN’s first international climate editor and embedding climate reporting more systematically across global news output. A committed advocate for diversity and inclusion, she co-founded As Equals, an Emmy award-winning gender reporting series focused on structural inequality.
Prior to CNN, Inga was a Senior Editor at the BBC for 15 years.
