Heba Kandil

Heba leads the media initiatives portfolio at Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF), overseeing the development of innovative, high-quality products, solutions and partnerships that strengthen free and independent journalism and builds their resilience in challenging environments.

Working at the intersection of journalism, design, and media sustainability, Heba combines frontline reporting experience as a Reuters journalist, with communication experience and design expertise in creating innovative media development solutions. Over the past two decades, she has helped to shape media development projects and delivered learning programmes and capacity building initiatives across Global Majority countries. Heba brings over 20 years of experience as a Reuters correspondent, TRF training lead and designer, and UN World Food Programme spokesperson. She holds a B.A. in International Relations and an M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communications from The American University in Cairo, plus an MSc. in Strategic Communication from the University of Liverpool.
