ROUNDTABLE

Singapore Compact Roundtable: Young People, Education and the Future of Work in the Age of AI

Thu, 10 Sep 2026 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM SGT MMR 2 Invitation Only

How can we prepare children for a world fundamentally shaped by artificial intelligence when the institutions raising them were built for a pre-AI era?

About this session

The generation growing up today is the first whose childhood, education and transition into work will be fundamentally shaped by artificial intelligence. Yet the institutions responsible for preparing young people for adulthood were largely designed for a pre-AI world.

This roundtable begins the co-creation of the Singapore Manifesto on Young People, Education and the Future of Work in the Age of AI — a shared framework articulating key challenges, guiding principles and practical priorities for action across sectors. Co-creation means participants actively shape the Manifesto's direction, contributing their own perspectives and expertise, rather than responding to a pre-defined agenda.

Together, the group explores how AI is reshaping attention, learning, relationships and entry-level employment, and identifies what young people need to flourish in this new environment. Because these challenges span education, mental health, technology and work, no single institution or sector can address them alone — the session brings together educators, researchers, employers, philanthropies, policymakers, parents, social innovators and young people themselves.

The discussion will contribute to a first working draft of the Manifesto, a broader coalition for implementation, and an initial conversation on a donor collaborative.

Note: This is a private, invite-only session.
