Zacharias (Zaani) Inaury

Zacharias (Zaani) Inaury is Project Implementation Manager at YAPPENDA and an environmental practitioner with more than a decade of experience leading community-based conservation, participatory planning, climate resilience, and Indigenous governance initiatives across Tanah Papua.

Before joining YAPPENDA, Zaani held senior leadership roles with WWF Indonesia, where he led major climate resilience programmes and participatory mapping initiatives supporting Indigenous communities, customary land recognition, and locally led conservation. He also has extensive experience in donor programme management, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and facilitating partnerships between communities, government agencies, and civil society organisations. He holds a Master of Science in Earth and Environmental Management from the University of Western Australia.

At YAPPENDA, Zaani leads the implementation of field programmes that integrate Indigenous knowledge, biodiversity conservation, and community-led landscape governance. He is committed to strengthening Indigenous leadership, empowering young Papuan conservation practitioners, and helping communities shape sustainable futures grounded in their cultural values and stewardship traditions.
