Biography

Wang Xiaoshu, CFA, is a sustainable and climate investing expert and the former Head of ESG & Climate Research, APAC at MSCI. Over her 13-year tenure at MSCI, she was based successively in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Singapore, giving her deep coverage of China and the core APAC markets. She built and led MSCI's APAC ESG & Climate Research team, published a series of research reports on environmental, social, and governance trends across China and Asia-Pacific, and her research was widely covered and cited by media. Drawing on her sector and local market expertise, she contributed on an ongoing basis to the enhancement of MSCI's sustainability and climate analytics models. She also regularly led analyst teams on roadshows with major global asset owners and asset managers, fostering dialogue between global institutional investors and APAC companies on sustainability, and engaged actively with regulators on green taxonomies, ESG and climate disclosure standards, and other issues shaping the sustainable investment ecosystem across APAC and China. Xiaoshu is a member of Caixin China's ESG30 expert think tank and the China Industrial Corporate Social Responsibility think tank under CIEEC, and was named "China ESG Explorer of the Year" by Jiemian in 2021.

Prior to MSCI, Xiaoshu spent several years as a management consultant, helping major Chinese banks and financial institutions optimize risk management and compliance systems under Basel accords, establish effective internal incentive mechanisms, and improve operational efficiency, while also advising large multinational corporations and state-owned enterprises on sustainability strategy.

Xiaoshu is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Singapore Management University (SMU), researching international sustainable regulatory trends and practical ESG implementation across Asia Pacific, with the aim of translating over a decade of capital markets experience into teaching case studies to develop sustainable finance talent. She remains actively involved in projects, initiatives and research driving sustainability across the region, and is regularly invited to share insights on sustainable finance and global ESG investing trends at leading universities across China and APAC.

She holds a CFA charter and a bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking from Peking University's Guanghua School of Management.
