Ted Blackmon

Dr. Ted Blackmon is a pioneer in digital delivery for capital projects and asset management, with extensive experience advancing technologies and practices across the engineering and construction industry. He has played a leading role in the development and standardization of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), leveraging Digital Twin technologies to improve project delivery, productivity, and safety.

In the 1990s, Ted developed robotic software at NASA involving 3D imaging, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, technologies that contributed to the Mars Pathfinder mission. He later adapted this technology for applications on Earth, including efforts to support mitigation of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

In the early 2000s, Ted helped establish the markets for Advanced Work Packaging and Digital Twins through the development of the ConstructSim and OpSim platforms. Throughout his career, he has focused on connecting technology with safety, productivity, sustainability, and capital project delivery.

Through Jovian Ventures Studio, Ted has founded and supported several companies and initiatives, including Construct-X, O3, Work Packs, AWP-U, and Optimality. In 2025, he joined PTAG as a Partner and Board Member, where he continues to advance next-generation approaches to project delivery.
