Satya Tripathi

Mr. Satya S. Tripathi is a development economist, lawyer and changemaker with over four decades of varied experience. He currently serves as the Secretary General of the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet - a global entity that drives green transformation on a planetary scale by leveraging private finance for public good, aiming to achieve the climate goals for at least 100 million people by 2035.

Mr. Tripathi is on the Global Steering Group of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative, is a Trustee at Water Unite, and serves on numerous other boards of international not-for-profit entities and academic institutions.

He has served with the United Nations for more than two decades in leadership positions, and was most recently the UN Assistant Secretary-General, head of New York Office at UN Environment and Secretary of the UN Environment Management Group. He has also served on the Global Agenda Council on Forests at the World Economic Forum. Mr. Tripathi was instrumental in establishing the Tropical Landscapes Finance Facility (TLFF) in Indonesia in 2016 and the Sustainable India Finance Facility (SIFF) in 2017 to garner ‘private finance for public good’ at mega-scale to achieve transformative social and environmental impact for millions of people in developing countries.
