Biography

Prof. Dr. Mirza D. Kusrini is a professor in the Division of Ecology and Wildlife Management, Department of Forest Resources Conservation & Ecotourism, Faculty of Forestry & Environment, IPB University. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Indonesia Species Specialist Group under the IUCN Species Survival Commission, a position she has held since 2023. The Indonesia Species Specialist Group (IdSSG) is a national network of experts dedicated to advancing species conservation through Red List assessments, scientific collaboration, and conservation planning. As Co-Chair, Mirza leads the group's strategic development, strengthens collaboration among Indonesian conservation scientists, and promotes the integration of national expertise into global conservation initiatives.

Mirza also maintains an active role within the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the IUCN. She serves as a member of the SSC's Amphibian Specialist Group and has been a part of the commission's Steering Committee since 2008. Mirza’s work encompasses various aspects of herpetology, including wildlife trade and the exploration of human–wildlife conflicts. She was instrumental in founding the Indonesian Herpetology Association and served as its first president from 2008 to 2013. Additionally, Mirza spearheads the citizen science project Gerakan Observasi Amfibi Reptil Kita (GO ARK), which aims to enhance data collection on the distribution of amphibians and reptiles in Indonesia.
