Biography

James Ong is the Chief Executive Officer of Ginkgo Asset Management, where he leads the management and growth of Tsao Pao Chee Group's (TPC) real estate and private equity real estate investments across Asia.

Prior to assuming his current role, James served as Chief Strategy Officer of TPC, overseeing the Group's mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, and real estate asset management activities. He also serves on the Investment Committees of IMC Ventures and the Octave Well-being Economy Fund, the corporate venture capital platforms of TPC.

Before joining TPC, James was with YCH Group, where he led strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions across the organisation. He was instrumental in expanding the Group's logistics real estate platform, leading warehouse acquisitions throughout Asia Pacific and overseeing a portfolio of 15 logistics assets across seven countries.

With more than 24 years of experience spanning private equity, investment banking, private banking, real estate, and principal investments, James has held leadership positions with organisations including DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, Oppenheimer Investments, and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS). During his tenure as Head of Asia at Oppenheimer Investments, he established and scaled the firm's regional business, developing investment opportunities and strategic relationships across key Asian markets.

Throughout his career, James has successfully led and executed transactions exceeding US$2Bn across sectors including infrastructure, consumer goods, logistics, healthcare, and real estate. He has also managed a family office investment platform with investments spanning healthcare, consumer products, aged care, engineering, renewable energy, and early childhood education.

James holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Corporate Finance from the University of Western Australia. He is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA Australia).

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, James contributes actively to the community and education sectors. He serves on Investment Committee of SPD (formerly the Society for the Physically Disabled), is a member of the Victoria Advisory Committee supporting Victoria School and Victoria Junior College, and has served as an Independent Director of a publicly listed company.
