Bernard Tan

Mr. Bernard Tan is the Country President of Sinar Mas. He is also currently the Chairman of Golden Philanthropies, a philanthropy that focuses on funding climate action in Asia. Prior to joining Sinar Mas, Mr. Tan was the Country Head for DBS Bank in Indonesia. He also used to work in the Singapore Armed Forces and the Singapore Administrative Service. Mr. Tan has spent considerable time working in and with Indonesia. He has a deep interest in combating the scourge of forest fires, the rehabilitation of landscapes, and on the development of carbon markets.

Mr. Tan holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Birmingham, UK (First Class Honours) in Economics and Political Science and a Masters of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.

He speaks English, Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia.
