The Climate Reality Project and former US Vice President Al Gore will host the 64th Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training in Singapore from Sept. 8-9, 2026.
As the war in Iran and subsequent closing of the Strait of Hormuz disrupts global energy supplies and threatens regional stability, Southeast Asia is one of the world’s most impacted regions. Southeast Asian nations face a growing energy and financial crisis and are responding with unprecedented and mandated energy saving measures. Given this geopolitical context and current climate realities, the region could not be more primed for a clean energy transition.
The region offers burgeoning examples of innovation, financial capacity, and collaboration potential that if channeled intentionally, could drive sustainable development. As both a top global fossil fuel trading and refining center and a green finance leader in Southeast Asia, Singapore now faces an opportunity to scale up clean energy investments to become a pivotal leader in the region’s energy transition. To do so, the city-state should double down on efforts to leverage its technical expertise, green capital, and strategic location to strengthen integration with neighboring nations and build resilience against the climate crisis.
This training will dive into regional climate impacts, explore the solutions already being deployed, and encourage opportunities for increased cross-border and cross-sector collaboration to create a greener, cleaner future for all.
