Frame & Value: Redefining Sustainability and the Value We Measure

Wed, 9 Sep 2026 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM SGT Forum 1
About this session

A sustainability narrative posits that the planet is in trouble because we have not done enough for renewable energy, recycling, and disclosures. But this narrative is incomplete for anyone allocating capital. Sustainability, as IMPACT WEEK names it, is not the minimisation of harm within an extractive system. It is regeneration — the restoration of coherence between human and planetary systems. A cleaner but extractive economy is not a sustainable one. It is the same architecture more efficiently run.

This session redefines sustainability as regeneration and redefines value — the work of the Well-being and EESG Alliance (WEGA), jointly established by TPC and CGS at NUS Business School. Professor Lawrence Loh, Executive Director of WEGA, will present the newly developed Life Flourishing Index (LFI), which organisations can use to assess well-being efforts and outcomes. A credible measure of flourishing is the missing price signal, tying sustainable finance to verified regeneration. What we choose to count matters.
